Biography
I graduated from University of Nigeria Medical School in 1978 and came to the United Kingdom in 1984 to continue my specialist training.I qualified to became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd.) in 1985. My higher surgical training in Orthopaedic Surgery was in The North West and Yorkshire regions. In 1995 I qualified and was awarded the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery FRCS(Orth) of the Royal Colleges.
I am included in the specialist register of the GMC (General Medical Council).
I was appointed as a full time Consultant in Tameside General Hospital in Greater Manchester in 1996. I served as Lead Educational Consultant for the Orthopaedic Department from 1996 to 1999 and as Clinical Director of the Orthopaedic Division with management responsibilities from November 1999 to October 2002.
I have an active teaching programme in my NHS practice. I am involved in both the undergraduate teaching of medical students from the Manchester Medical School doing their Special Study modules and postgraduate teaching of orthopaedic trainees.
I have had publications in journals and made presentations to learned societies.
I have a full General Orthopaedic practice including major joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery. My area of special interests is in Foot and Ankle Surgery. My workload comprises both General Practitioner referrals and tertiary referrals from Consultant colleagues. I deal with problems in the foot and ankle due to deformity, joint degeneration and injury. A significant proportion of the injuries being sports related. I am a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle surgery society (BOFAS).
My other area of special interest is in Paediatric Orthopaedics and complex reconstructive lower limb trauma.
